Semana Santa: Barcelona

Barcelona was such a laid back and relaxing trip. It was the perfect place to go after Madrid and is when I really started to feel like I was on vacation. Even though both Madrid and Barcelona are in Spain they have two completely different feels and just overall different cultures. Madrid is the nation's capital and is also landlocked. It is definitely a lot more conservative than Barcelona probably because that is where the government is located (Kind of like how DC has a much different feel from NYC). Barcelona on the other hand is a beach town, which helps to contribute to the more laid back feeling. Barcelona also just felt a lot more artistic and rebellious than Madrid. While in Barcelona we stayed in the Olympic Village just a few blocks from the beach. The weather was definitely too cold to get in but it was nice to just lay on the beach and listen to the Mediterranean Sea. There was also amazing weather the entire time we were in Barcelona which made it that much better. I can't say enough good things about Barcelona and I hope my pictures do it justice.
